PROFICO AMBIENTE is a Portuguese consultancy company founded in 2000 that provides services in different consultancy, engineering and project management fields in the Environmental Area.
The company is divided into divisions for different areas of expertise:
- Environmental Studies;
- Environmental Management;
- Environmental Monitoring of Works;
- Health and Safety.
PROFICO AMBIENTE is a certified company in accordance with the Standard NP EN ISO 9001:2008 for the environmental consulting activity..
PROFICO AMBIENTE carries on its business in Portugal and also other countries notably the Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP).

PROFICO AMBIENTE is a consultancy company working in the Environmental Area developing studies and projects in the fields of Environment and Land Use Planning.
PROFICO AMBIENTE´s main mission consists in the full satisfaction of its Clients through the conception and implementation of solutions finely tuned to their interests and designs within an environmental context, in conjunction with the Quality Policy.
To carry out this objective, PROFICO AMBIENTE encourages a close relationship with its Clients during the development of their projects, which enables the final products to be finely tuned to their true needs, whilst simultaneously respecting environmental standards of quality.
PROFICO AMBIENTE obtained the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System (QMS) certification in 2010 by SGS.
Establishing and developing a Quality Policy allows PROFICO AMBIENTE to pursue Excellency of its environmental consultancy services.
The first aim of the Company is to provide services which meet the clients’ requests in compliance with internal quality requirements, deadlines and contractual price. An essential condition is also legal and regulatory fulfilment.
Bearing in mind the strategic importance of Quality for its services and respecting the principles of professional ethics and deontology in its relationships, the Company commits to:
- Provide services in its business areas to ensure that CUSTOMER NEEDS ARE SATISFIED in accordance with the technical specifications and regulations in force;
- Promote INNOVATION AND TECHNICAL QUALITY in its services, by constantly updating knowledge and through acquisition of technical potential;
- Recognize SUPPLIERS AS PARTNERS, favouring those that meet quality standards compatible with its values;
For these purposes, PROFICO AMBIENTE guarantees the necessary resources for its operation and continual improvement of its QMS effectiveness in accordance with the requirements of the aforementioned standard NP EN ISO 9001:2008.
PROFICO AMBIENTE has a permanent qualified staff with a high level of professionalism and competence. The Company also supports its activity in a large consultants’ network, both individuals (free-lancers, Universities) and companies/other entities. This ensures the best collaborations and partnerships selection, technically adjusted to the specific activities to be developed, for continual improvement.

Founder of Profico in 1991, as Managing Partner and bridges design engineer with different activities related to engineering, such as arbritation, advice, project review and structural rehabilitation. Post-graduate qualification in Management by UNL in 99/2000. Member of the board of APPC (2003/2009).

More than 25 years of experience in Project Environmental Assessment (Environmental Impact Studies and Environmental Impact Assessment and Plans and Programmes (Strategic Environmental Assessment) Support, Waste Management, Environmental Audits and Environmental Management Systems. In last 15 years is an Assistant Professor at UHLT as coordinator of Environmental Impact Assessment Fundamentals subject of Environmental Engineering Course. Managing Partner and Technical Director of Profico Ambiente since October 2000.

Environmental Engineer and post-graduated in Sanitary Engineering (FCT/UNL). More than 20 years of experience in Environmental Studies, namely general coordination and project management of national strategic studies and plans, studies and plans on waste management and environmental technologies, environmental audits (legal compliance, ISO 14001 and due diligence) and studies related to environmental performance. Member of the Technical Commission CT150: SC1 – Environmental Management Systems, SC2 – Environmental Auditing, SC3 – Environmental Labelling. Collaborates with PROFICO AMBIENTE since 2002 as Environmental Management Director and also as a quality internal auditor (ISO 9001:2008).

Collaborates with PROFICO AMBIENTE since 2010, as Environmental Studies Environmental Monitoring and Occupational Safety and Health Director.

High School (12 years) and Construction Project Designer Course. Worked as a Construction Project Designer for 9 years. Experience in the administrative area since 2009, giving support to the administrative, accounting and human resources.
The growing concern of the Organizations regarding the environmental impacts generated by their activities, the existence of increasingly demanding environmental legislation and the demand of greater competitiveness in the market by the Organizations justify the existence of PROFICO AMBIENTE.
Under the motto "ENVIRONMENT IS OUR PRIORITY", we provide a set of specialized consulting services in the areas of Environment and Safety, ensuring sustainable solutions, technically and economically appropriate to the Organizations’ size and nature.
In line with the specific objectives of its Clients, PROFICO AMBIENTE can carry out other types of studies and advice which meet the specific requirements and needs of the Client. The company has a multipurpose, flexible, innovative and highly motivated technical team to respond to new challenges.
PROFICO AMBIENTE has a GIS and AutoCad tool for the cartography of the Studies and Projects developed.

EPROFICOA AMBIENTE is represented in the Portuguese Environmental Management Technical Commission (CT150) (that nationally monitors the work of the International Commission ISO/TC207) of the Sectorial Standardization Organisation (Environmental Portuguese Agency) for the following Sub commissions:
- SC1 - Environmental Management Systems;
- SC2 - Environmental Auditing;
- SC3 - Environmental Labelling.

PROFICO AMBIENTE obtained the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System (QMS) certification of compliance with the standard NP EN ISO 9001:2008 for the Environmental Consultancy activity by SGS.
